Speed Cameras in South Carolina

A lot of you probably read the article yesterday about speed cameras on I-95 in Ridgeland, South Carolina from the AP. How long till these show up on Long Island?

Furthermore, I wonder how long till we have cameras on every corner enforcing every possible infraction, all in the name of making society better but in reality only about generating revenue.

you know, i got three of these fucking tickets (so far) from one light in hicksville (corner of broadway and nevada). i wasn’t aware that they caught you for not making a FULL stop when turning on a red, so i did what 99% of other people do: slow down to like 3mph and turn. it’s a slap in the face but whatever, i’ll pay it. BUT, they take so long to process the tickets (and mail them from nevada), that i didn’t start getting them in the mail for almost two months. needless to say i had “run” that light several times already.
i don’t know how they get away with the cameras in the first place, and it’s a complete mystery why they’re allowed to run the thing out of state and not even employ actual nassau residents to monitor it.

That sucks Chris, you have a good point. If you would have been notified sooner you could have corrected right away and gotten much less tickets. I don’t think that’s their priority though – the priority is to maximize revenue. I’m surprised yours took two months to arrive – my wife’s ticket arrived in about 3 weeks, but that was in Suffolk so maybe they process them differently.

      Edit: Make that 2 weeks!
